by admin477351

India’s live entertainment industry is experiencing a transformative surge, fueled by rising incomes, digital integration, and a youth-driven demand for global experiences. In 2024, the organised live event segment crossed the ₹12,000 crore threshold, with projections indicating a 19% compound annual growth rate over the next three years, according to an EY report.

A record number of international artists, including Bryan Adams, Alan Walker, Dua Lipa, and Maroon 5, performed standalone concerts in India last year. Canadian artists of Indian origin like AP Dhillon and Karan Aujla also drew massive crowds, underscoring the country’s growing appeal as a global tour destination.

Notably, Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres concert in Ahmedabad attracted over 222,000 fans, generating an economic impact of approximately ₹641 crore. The event triggered unprecedented growth in local business sectors—hotels, restaurants, and transportation services—while significantly boosting the city’s global profile. Ahmedabad Airport handled over 138,000 passengers during the concert period, reflecting the scale and momentum of the event.

These mega-events are proving to be economic catalysts, extending their impact far beyond ticket sales. They invigorate tourism, hospitality, logistics, and retail, while also offering a platform for local talent and employment. Furthermore, they promote sustainability, inclusivity, and cultural diversity within India’s growing entertainment landscape.

As cities across India become vibrant hubs for international performances, the concert economy is set to reshape urban economies and cultural identities in the years to come.
