Google is enhancing how users interact with Search by expanding access to its powerful AI Mode across the U.S. Available now through Search Labs without a waitlist, AI Mode delivers more intuitive and helpful search results through structured, AI-generated responses. A dedicated AI Mode tab will also begin rolling out to select users in the Google app over the coming weeks.
Originally launched in March, AI Mode is designed to tackle complex queries with advanced reasoning and multimodal input capabilities. Building on the AI Overview feature, it presents refined answers enriched with context and actionable insights.
As part of the expansion, Google is introducing two major new features:
Visual Cards: Replacing traditional link lists, AI Mode now displays responses in rich visual formats. Whether you’re searching for a local salon or comparing products, results appear as interactive cards with ratings, reviews, images, prices, and availability—curated from multiple sources.
AI History: Users can now access a left-side history panel to revisit past queries and continue their search threads. This addition supports ongoing tasks and research, making Search more dynamic and personalized.
With these updates, Google aims to make Search not only more intelligent but also more visually engaging and useful for real-world decisions.
